If A Gaff Falls in the Woods…

…will the Press report it?

Seems not.  Not if it’s a Democrat like Obama or Biden.  Let’s face it, if there were a worse covered Election in our history, it was before decent communication.  With the exception of Washington, no nominee experienced more favorable coverage than Obama has.  And by his second term even Washington was beginning to get some bad press.

Not Obama or Biden though.  I can’t even imagine what the press would do to Gov. Palin if she said; “Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy,”, or if she had said; “Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests John McCain like they did John Kennedy,” .

It may not be over, but when someone like Biden can get away scott free saying something like that, get by people that buy ink by the barrel, and go virtually without notice or reporting, the voters are screwed.  This is why Democrats still want the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” passed.  Between Fox News and the Limbaugh’s on AM Radio, there is not challenge to the Democrats.  If they can muzzle those sources, then the Dems will be able to do anything unchallenged.

I can’t at this point see how Obama doesn’t win at this stage.  Even if both Obama and Biden do nothing but screw up for the next two weeks, you won’t know, because the press won’t report it.  Just like Biden’s admission that Hillary was a better choice or that Obama would lead directly to an attack on this country, leaving one to believe it was due to his inexperience, (mostly because he didn’t say the same would happen to McCain), and say next to nothing about it, laughed it off or ignored it altogether.

And when asked about it what does Sen. Obama say?  “I think that Joe sometimes engages in rhetorical flourishes,” Obama said.  Oh OK, that makes it all OK.  When Gov. Palin makes a truthful statement that Obama palled around with a terrorist, the press is on her like stink on a turd.  When Murtha calls his area of the Country racist, it was a mis speak.  I haven’t expected the press to be fair for a long time, but they use to at least pretend to be.

God help us when the press doesn’t repeat thnigs like what Harry Reid, the Senate Leader says, as he did in 2006, “the American people should never again allow one party to control both houses of Congress and the White House”.  I guess he just means the GOP, not the Democrats.  Had Newt said that years ago you can bet it would be in every OP-ED every other day.

So as the press advocates that The One’s time has arrived, as the press acclaims an unspecified change let us remember the words of Thomas Jefferson; “If there be any among us who would wish to dissolve this Union or to change its republican form, let them stand undisturbed as monuments of the safety with which error of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it.” –Thomas Jefferson: 1st Inaugural, 1801.

But should this change come to those who welcome it, let us that fear it be wary.  For the Republic was on her last legs for many a year since the progressives were allowed to hide the real purpose of their legislation, that resulted in the loss of freedom and privacy.  Let us all be wary since the press allowed this lacuna of Obama’s life go unexposed, thus allowing ignorance to prevail.  Allowing style to trump substance and failing to protect the voters right to knowledge and permitting reason to combat it.

Though it is not yet over and the truth might still out, I am not so inclined to believe that reason is enough against barrels of ink.
