Least We Forget…

by

On the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month the armistice that ended WWI was completed.  That day was remembered as a day of thanks for the Veterans who were part of the War To End All Wars.

It was called Armistice Day for many years and then changed to Veterans Day to remember all of our Veterans who have served and do serve today.  Thank heaven that we have learned to not blame the troops for actions the politicians order.  These brave men and women are the very best Americans.  They are our neighbors, some are teachers, firemen and policemen.   Some are full time, othes part time who have been asked to give more and provide a larger role than what they expected.

No matter the cost to their families these brave people are willing to put behind family, their job the creature comforts of their homes, and stand guard at the gates of hell to prevent a breech, to protect the freedom of everyone of us.

So not only today, but every day we all should take a one minute and think of those who have served and those who do.  Most don’t want any thanks, but if you know a Vet, thank them anyway.  Because although you might think you know what it would be like, until you’ve been there you really don’t know what it can be like to serve during War.  Just the preparation, basic training, is beyond the common experience.

Thank a Vet, you have much to thank them for.

I certainly didn’t mean me, but thank you Lori. There are much more deserving people out there than I.

    Best to you and yours.
