Opine From A Guest.

A good friend of mine wrote to Ellis Henican who was praising the President on the release of Secret Memo’s on the issue of harsh Interrogation methods.  Mr. Henican along with being a harpy for the left was however kind enough to respond to Carolyn’s letter to him.  It is as follows:

Ellis: Because you seem so out of touch with people like me I am going to give it to you with both barrels. So, buckle up.

How about the truth about corrupt, self- serving, irresponsible, self righteous, unresponsive, unaccountable Congress members? What about the revelation that billions of dollars in fraud are being afforded by a bill they never read? How about never admitting that they agreed to the very techniques they are now trying to investigate? How about their conflicts of interest and their re-elections being more important than anything else in this galaxy?

What about all the families they are damaging via their policies and their plans to pile on the taxes and the energy fees that will put even more people out of their jobs and homes? What about the pure and utter arrogance that allows them to never ever take responsibility for the damage they do to us? Yet, I protest them and I am called racist, insane or hysterical because, even though I am effected, I am just a right-wing fringe loon sponsered by Fox News to demonstrate who cannot possibly be smart enough to know what is good for me or how to manage my own life or what I am mad about.

Meanwhile, they ridicule us as they sit in their cozy insulated little cocoons where all they have to do is manipulate the system and get re-elected while my husband works 60 hours a week just to get by. That is the truth I care about and if a few guys got dunked til they said ‘uncle” I couldn’t care less about them as I watch my retirement swirl down the drain.

You should be advocating for the truth about what is happening to the lives of American taxpayers and not root for some big witch hunt by a bunch of self serving buffoons about something that just doesn’t matter as millions hit the unemployment lines, lose their homes, are having trouble feeding their families, and the tragedy of some of them killing themselves and their kids over all of this.

Having hearings about waterboarding just doesn’t mean much in comparison. And don’t give me the garbage about how interrogation tactics make America look bad and that we should be better than everyone else and be an example for the rest of the world.

It is hard to care what anyone thinks of America when our own president cannot demonstrate his love for his country while he sits silently while a foreign and brutal dictator derides our country in a speech for almost an hour. It makes me wonder what the point of his presidency is.

Mr. Henican responds:

we debate all those issues all the time — as we should. why not torture? why hide from the facts? conduct a professional investigation of what happened, all professional prosecutors to assess any lawbreaking, exonerate those who didn’t break the law and — ultimately — let the jury decide! isn’t that how we do things in america(sic)? by the way, I don’t feel remotely out of touch with you. lots of my relatives in louisiana(sic), where I grew up, share your outlook! you and I just diagree(sic). that’s OK. /ellis

chas opines:

Mr. Henican, the reason that we shouldn’t have this debate is that they don’t.  They have no compunction what-so-ever about lopping off the hand or head of whoever they feel needs the punishment.  The sad thing is now in hindsight, you complain about their treatment, but would have called for impeachment had another attack happened.  You would have claimed the President Bush didn’t do enough to keep us safe.

Even now, your “new way” cannot make any such claims, but I can assure you that should a new attack happen, it will be Bush’s fault.  Someday you weenies will realize that there are just plain evil people in the world, who not only don’t appreciate your concern for their treatment, would love to get you in a room and do far worse.  I hasten to point out that Jefferson said;” There is nothing more unequal, than the equal treatment of unequal people.”  These people simply are not the equal of any civilized Country.  To gain respect, you must show respect and they do not respect our ways and they deserve the same in kind.

    Carolyn this Excellent ,
this Adminsration is totally frustrating me,
I dont know what they are accomplishing by doing things that are not in the best interest of the American people,
dont worry about what the world thinks, worry about what the American people think.
    Chas great job.

Carolyn…absolutely wonderful!!! One cannot persuade a person like Ellis to reason, however, you certainly made plain why he is so wrong.
Chas…an excellent response to Ellis, and his letter to Carolyn. I am indeed, humbled, by the smart citizens I have the privilege of calling friends. I am comforted during these perilous times, by the thoughtful commentary, when so much out there is just plain folly. Gini

Marine…you got Chas’ email? Click and come, hum? We are waiting for you. Gini
I am humbled by having such support. Thank you Gini.

Carolyn – excellent, well-thought out post but one in which you failed to realize that there is really no getting through to the Obamaholics until it affects them. While Ellis (i did not capitolize “America” in my response) Henican is sitting there making thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars, he seems to have no concern for the concerns of his “relatives” in Louisiana or anyone else that goes against the big tax, big spending, big government harpies in Washington. The grass-roots efforts of us “rednecks” (courtesy of Girofalo (sp)) has started and I would love nothing better than to see the entire Senate, House and Executive Branch voated out within the next 4 years…..hopefully it will not be too late to repair the damage.

Carolyn—this is really a great well thought out post. Much of this would end in an instant—-if the networks would have the courage to show the 9-11 attacks every single day.

Have faith that in the very end-the good guy always wins. Maybe not in this world that really only is a nano second compared to eternity.

  7. Sterling Says:

Carolyn, my dear, thank you for articulating what so many of us feel! It IS hard to care what the rest of the world thinks of us. Especially when they all wait for our response to any catastrophe.

Thank you, chas, for: ”There is nothing more unequal, than the equal treatment of unequal people.” I’ve forgotten about that one. It is priceless.

    Where is our Jefferson?
The real inspiration comes from Carolyn’s work.

  8. Liz K Says:

Chas, thank you for sharing Carolyn’s thoughts with everyone. Carolyn, you did an excellent job of expressing the frustration many of us are feeling right now. The problem with Mr. Henican’s response is that this is in no way a professional investigation. It is a witch hunt designed to distract the American people from the ridiculous spending being done by congress and the president.
I too fear that underestimating the pure evil of this enemy will cost many American lives in the not too distant future.
Easy one for me Liz, Carolyn did all the work. 😉

She should write my blog I think.
