What’s Another Trillion?

by

When Democrats say let’s aim for a bi-partisan Bill they mean the GOP has to agree with them.  Today, with no input or objections noted the left just passed a $1.1 Trillion, yes I said Trillion, end of year spending bill that increases just about every social agency but a generous margin.  The Defense spending wasn’t voted upon.  I suspect that they will hold back on that, as liberals will, to vote on that funding so they can pork load the bill so no one can vote against it without looking like they are against funding the Troops.

Speaking of the Troops:

I have to insert a personal welcome home to my good friend Jim Gafney, who is just home from yet another tour in Iraq.  Major, I applaud your dedication to duty and have no words for the appreciation I have, for not only your friendship but your service to this great Country.  Enjoy the time with the little ones, though it might seem a chore now, they will soon go to kindergarten and come home from College Easter Break.  Trust me on that one.  😉  Or as Eileen says, Don’t blink.

Raising the Limit:

The Party, including the President, who ran on curbing the excesses of the Bush Administration, wants to raise the debt limit another $1.8 Trillion.  This is about the same as you topping out your credit card and then asking VISA to increase your limit by ten fold.

Let me know who that works out for you.

Again, HealthScare:

Why is it that over 60% of the people are against the proposed Health Care now in the Senate, the Senate seems bound and determined to pass it over their objection?

Does that sound like representation to you?  That is one problem, how about just the cost?

Richard S. Foster, the chief actuary of the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said Friday that under Mr. Reid’s bill national health spending from 2010 to 2019 would total $35.5 trillion. Seems to me that is a far cry from $1 Trillion that is being touted as the cost over the next decade.  I suggest a multiple of 3 of any cost estimates given by any person involved in the government.

You see the actual problem is not the cost of health care insurance , the problem is we can’t afford health care.

As Michael Munger cites: The problem is that health care costs have increased at an annual rate double, or more than double, the rate of inflation for the last two decades. Right now, our attempts at reform are doomed by a law of accounting physics: Insurance can’t cost less than the health care it insures.  That means that subsidizing insurance likely makes the problem worse.

This is pretty much what happened in the late 60’s under LBJ’s “Great Society” with Medicare and Medicade.  Cost then in 4 years rose 400%.  Yea let’s repeat that stupidity.

MERRY CHRISTMAS:

Since it is that time of the year and I never know how the holidays will collide with life in general I wish to take this opportunity to say a couple of things.

First, let me say that words, any words or phrases, I could come up with would fall way short of the appreciation I have for the support you people render.  You take time out of your busy lives to read the casual observations that I make.  I consider myself so very lucky that you do that and take some time to let me know what you think about those observations.

I am honored , and I do mean honored, by that support that you show.

Second, I am blessed by the friendship and care you show, I thank you and believe me when I say I don’t take that for granted.  This is why I always post a response to your comments.  I don’t want anyone to think I don’t read your input.  It is important to me that you do comment.

Lastly, I want to wish all of you the very best and Blessed Christmas, which in extension goes to yours.  Little matters more than family and friends, most of you are a bit of family to me.

Best I say that now because Life is what happens when you are busy making plans.  It’s sort of God’s favorite joke on mankind.

MERRY CHRISTMAS,

chas
