Fill ‘er Up?

by

I’m sure everyone else is going deaf and blind with all the media screams about the rising cost of fuel in this Country as they did with Bush and Chaney a few years back.  Oh wait there hasn’t been a single word of blame from the media against this Administration over the fact that gas in now over $3 a gallon.  Of course the big difference is now a Democrat is in the White House.

There is also another difference, Bush did not cause the prices to go up, he drove them down by opening up coastal drilling.  When he did that the price fell to almost half.  The difference now is that the President has given the signal to the Arabs that he doesn’t care about the cost of fuel by reinstating the ban of off shore drilling.  Remember at the end of 2008 the price of gas was around $1.70 a gallon.  Last national average I saw was $3.11 a gallon.

As we all know the price of fuel affects the basic necessities of life such as food and the cost of getting to work.  It affects the cost of keeping our home warm and the cost of having electrical services.  Now we all know that this Administration has this idea that we should all go green, but the framework is decades away from even making up half of our needs in many areas.

So until we are there it is necessary that the cost of doing business be kept reasonable.  The fact that the price keeps climbing and the media says nothing certainly must lay to waste any thought of the media being neutral or fair in its reporting.  And while the media was quick to blame the last Administration for the rising cost of oil, it never did give credit, in fact tried to laugh off as naive the “Drill Baby Drill” call, even while it was evident that it was causing the prices to drop.

This is one of the things that drives me nuts about liberals.  No matter how many times you show them that something works they continue to try to push some old non-working or untried effort  just because it suits their agenda.  Besides putting thousands of Americans to work opening up off-shore drilling will also force the drop of fuel cost.  Some will say it will take 10 years for results, before any oil reaches shore.  Even if that is true, it gets longer until it does the longer you delay the start.  If the greenies had allowed drilling 15 years ago it would be sending in oil today, affecting the price of oil.

It really isn’t that hard to figure this out.  Put a bunch of people to work, add oil to system, drop the price of oil, life in the Country improves.  We can continue to improve on the green stuff as we go along and I guess that eventually the technology will catch up with our goals.  Or one would hope so anyway.

Sadly though, we aren’t being served well by the major media markets.  They place all the blame right now on OPEC.  While certainly they, as well as China, are responsible in great part for the increases in cost, you have to report it all and by not allowing us to tap our own reserves this Administration is doing us great harm, both now and for the future.

It is the responsibility of the media to inform the masses, not to hide or protect an Administration to the point of disinformation.

Good Morning Chas, We need to build more nuclear power plants,
we need to drill, but they want us to go green?
like you said… there is no framwork or technology yet,
first get the technology and framwork then start talking,
they want to do everything backwards!
I remember people used to tell me that Bush raised the gas prices,
and i would say… what are you crazy!!
Now i say…what about the gas prices..they still think Bush has something to do with it!
im done talking to these people.
    Great Post Chas.

Thanks Sal. It just always amazes me how the very obvious manages to avoid those who think they are so smart. If you haven’t managed to make it work yet, why junk what does work? Like I always say, if the market is really there, no real capitalist will pass up the chance to make a buck on it.

Or as Jefferson once said; “Only a lie needs Government support, the truth stands alone.” The same applies to innovation in the market place.

What does the Department of Energy do. I thought it was created to reduce our dependency on oil, that was its Charter when formed in August of 1977. It now has 109,000 federal and contract employees with a budget of $24 Billion. Its record of success is non-existent. They are holding back drilling. When was the last time they approved a permit for a nuke power plant.

We need all forms of energy and less DOE.

It does nothing which is why on my last blog I called for it to be eliminated as well as the Dept of Education.

Nuke plants. like wind farms are all, for liberals, not in my backyard. BTW, as I understand it wind farms never pay for themselves. While they may reduce use of fuels, they are never cost effective.
