Survival of the Ignorant

Now if you are easily offended, or if you suffer from a confused bleeding heart, I suggest you skip reading this blog because I am going to say some things that will undoubtedly tick you off.

Let me start that I am NOT a Romney supporter.  I do not for a second believe that you can be elected Governor of the bluest state in the Country and be any sort of conservative.

That said the media is having a field day with a partial statement made by Romney claiming he doesn’t care about the poor.  Of course what he said was they are already taken care of with social safety nets, that if damaged he would work to fix them.

But the obvious point is being missed here.  Show me the poor.  Really, think about this for a minute.  The so-called poor in this Country, on average, have a cell phone, (often one for each family member), at least one color TV, (often more), how many do you suppose don’t own a microwave oven?

How many American’s do you suppose would be called “poor” if we used, say Mexico, as the standard?  Pretty close to zero I believe.

Somehow we manage to create a class that simply doesn’t exist in any great number for political reasons.  The “unfortunate” among us are really anything but, when you consider poverty in other parts of the World.  We’ve tossed over $6 Trillion in the “War on Poverty“, yet the actual poverty rate, (which has been around 10%), has hardly varied at all.  Congress simply moves the bench mark upwards if any progress is made.

Words being tools, look how Liberals label those who have less; “unfortunate“.  Does this mean those of us who do get by better, or worse, have actually made a great life though hard work are merely fortunate?  All that hard work, multiple jobs, frugal spending habits were nothing but just good luck?  I think not!

Since the turn of the last century we have gone from rough individualist, from people who only wanted a shot at life to a bunch of government reliant hogs lapping at the trough.  From a people who settled the wild west, to people who are more worried about our government retirement.  From those who asked what they could do for our Country to one who ask what government can do for us.

Each and every year we pass off a little bit more of our freedom, our choices, our way of life into the willing hands of the government.  Many seem to give freedom nothing more than a shout out on the 4th of July.  We allow them to tell us where we can smoke, what we can eat, how to raise our children on and on.  We allow the government to borrow money in the name of our children to spend on programs and things that do nothing more than gain them votes so they can return to DC and do it all again.

Our school system is nothing more than a puppy mill, grinding out a product ill prepared to handle life, even less prepared to handle freedom because they are all taught that the government is the end all of life.  You never have to grow up and fail, the government will save you.  You don’t need to know how to make a budget, the government will help you when you have nothing.

And this is how the ignorant survive.  Armed with the education system, a willing media “We the People” has become You The Government.  We are now working for them, if not totally, mostly.  Can tyranny be so far behind?  Remember the government cannot take away your freedom, but you can certainly give it away.

Think of what I’ve written here and remember these telling words of Thomas Jefferson; “Dependence begets subservience and venality, suffocates the germ of virtue, and prepares fit tools for the designs of ambition.”

Welfare, Unemployment, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, looks like a system set up to foster dependency to me.
